ABC/Randy HolmesMetallica‘s Hardwired…to Self-Destruct has vaulted 40 spots all the way up to number two on this week’s edition of the Billboard 200 with a total of 65,000 equivalent album units.
The surge is sales is thanks to Metallica bundling Hardwired with tickets for their upcoming North American tour, which kicks off September 2 in Madison, Wisconsin. Redeeming the album download included in your ticket purchase counts as one sale.
Upon its original release in November 2016, Hardwired…to Self-Destruct debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Every one of Metallica’s albums since their 1991 self-titled release has reached number one on the chart.
In other charting news, The Decemberists‘ new album, I’ll Be Your Girl, debuts at number nine on the Billboard 200 with a total of 30,000 equivalent album units.
