Credit: Travis ShinnLamb of God is returning to their origins with Legion: XX, a covers album that will be released under the band’s original name, Burn the Priest. The 10-track collection will be released May 18.
The covers on Legion: XX consist mostly of songs written by Lamb of God’s early punk influences, such as Cro-Mags, Bad Brains and The Accused. You can listen to their take on The Accused’s “Inherit the Earth” and watch a performance video now on YouTube.
“Our inauspicious beginnings somehow grew into something none of us had ever even imagined possible, let alone aspired to, however, this is the story of Burn the Priest,” says guitarist Mark Morton. “The songs we chose to cover on this album reflect that story. They are touchstones from that point in time.”
Meanwhile, Lamb of God will be joining another one of their influences, the legendary Slayer, on the iconic thrash band’s upcoming farewell tour, which kicks off May 10 in San Diego. Along the way, Lamb of God will be playing a number of headlining shows of their own.
