ABC/Eric McCandlessMr. Worldwide is heading to the United Nations.
Pitbull will be addressing U.N. delegates about the global water crisis on Thursday, from General Assembly Hall at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
During his remarks, he’ll be announcing a new celebrity-driven social media awareness campaign, led by a group of fellow recording artists including Pink, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Maroon 5, Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexha, Hailee Steinfeld and more.
Additionally, he’ll help launch the Water Action Decade of 2018 to 2028, which includes a 10-year plan geared towards developing and managing water resources.
Pitbull will also be named Clean Water Here Global Ambassador and receive the 2018 World Water Champion Award for his efforts to provide global access to safe water.
“Our leaders need to understand that economy and environment are not mutually exclusive,” Pitbull, whose birth name is Armando Christian Perez, says in a statement. “One is not more important than the other. Try counting your money while holding your breath, starving and dehydrating at the same time. All life needs water.”
He adds, “Clean Water Here is committed to improving access to safe water for all, and it is an honor to serve as global ambassador. Equally, it is an honor to address delegates at the United Nations on World Water Day about this critical issue.”
