Epic RecordsForget Tinder or Match.com — Meghan Trainor says she found her true love simply by asking the universe for him.
Appearing on the British talk show Lorraine, Meghan, who’s engaged to actor Daryl Sabara, acknowledged that for a long time, she had no romantic prospects at all, and she wasn’t happy about it.
“It was so weird ’cause I remember I was crying in an Uber on my way home with my best friend,” Meghan told Lorraine’s Dan Wootton. “And I was just screaming, ‘Where is he? Why isn’t he here? I know he’s so close!'”
“You know how they say, ‘Speak to the universe and you get what you want?’ I did! All the time! And I was just so frustrated,” she continued. “And not a week later, my friend Chloë [Grace Moretz] set us up.”
On the show, Meghan also spoke about the depression and anxiety she suffered after undergoing vocal cord surgery for the second time a few years back.
“[It was] my first experience with anxiety, to where it cripples you and you can’t get out of bed,” she recalled. “I thought I must have something terribly wrong with me, or I’m going crazy.”
Meghan says she finally sought medical help to find out, as she puts i, “Why am I shaking? Why does my back feels like it’s burning and why am I sweating and my stomach’s all over the place?”
“They’re like, ‘It’s your brain!’ and you’re like, ‘Whaaat?'” Meghan recalled. “And then I studied all this stuff on mental health and how it can really crash your life for a moment.”
Luckily, Meghan’s put that moment behind her. She has a new single, “No Excuses,” and a new album due out later this year.
