Walt Disney PicturesQuestlove is giving kids the opportunity to see Ava DuVernay‘s new film A Wrinkle in Time for free, thanks to a very special initiative he’s drummed up called the #WRINKLEchallenge.
Monday, The Roots performer tweeted, “*breaking news* im startin the #WRINKLEchallenge — because it’s IMPORTANT that children see this film. if you are able to donate ($10 bucks or $10 katrillion) please rise to the occasion. SUPER EASY!”
Questlove then asked readers to click on the Give a Child The Universe website for more information on how to donate tickets.
For each contribution made, AMC Theaters will donate a movie ticket for children and teens nationwide to see A Wrinkle in Time.
A $10 donation is equal to one ticket; a $20 donation is equal to two tickets.
Since his announcement, Questlove has asked various celebrities to rise to the challenge and participate, including black-ish star Anthony Anderson, ESPN sports journalist Jemele Hill and Oprah Winfrey, who stars in the film as an astral traveler who helps guide lead character Meg in the search for her missing scientist father.
A Wrinkle in Time is the big-screen adaptation of the popular young adult book by Madeleine L’Engle.
It opens in theaters nationwide March 9 from Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
