ABC/Image Group LA You might think a video for a song like “Tequila” would be set in a tropical paradise. But Dan + Shay continue to flip the script with the ballad, shooting a snow-themed clip in the Colorado mountains instead.
Dan Smyers came up with the treatment, alongside director Patrick Tracy. America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars winner Nyle DiMarco stars in the video, along with Mica Von Turkovich, who plays his romantic partner.
“Working with Nyle was truly an honor,” Dan says. “He was an absolute pro, on and off camera, and just a rad guy to hang out with. After the video wrapped, we got to hit the town of Breckenridge together along with his awesome co-star Mica.”
Dan also hopes the video will help elevate Nyle’s fight to help the hearing-impaired.
“We are so inspired by Nyle’s advocacy to improve accommodations for the deaf community,” Dan adds, “and we hope that the ‘Tequila’ video will serve as another platform for him to do just that.”
Dan and his musical partner Shay Mooney are currently up for the Academy of Country Music’s Duo of the Year honor for the fifth year in a row. You can watch their video for “Tequila” on YouTube now.
