Image Group LA/ABCTo say that Twenty One Pilots‘ 2015 album Blurryface was a success is a pretty big understatement. The album launched the Columbus, Ohio duo to superstar, arena-filling levels, and has been certified three times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Now, it’s become the first ever album to have every song be RIAA-certified.
That means that all 14 tracks on Blurryface have been certified either gold, platinum or multi-platinum. It’s the first album to achieve that feat since the RIAA started including digital sales and streams as part of its certification process.
The breakout single “Stressed Out” has been certified a whopping seven times platinum, while “Ride” and “Tear in My Heart” both earned multi-platinum certification.
“Heavydirtysoul,” “Fairly Local” and “Lane Boy” all went platinum as well, while “The Judge,” “Doubt,” “Polarize,” “We Don’t Believe What’s on TV,” “Message Man,” “Hometown,” “Not Today” and “Goner” are all gold certified.
“Congratulations to Twenty One Pilots for this unparalleled achievement,” says RIAA chairman and CEO Cary Sherman. “From the first track to the 14th, each and every song from Blurryface has resonated with fans. In a time when fans enjoy instant access to millions of different tracks, this is a testament to the appeal of both the album and each of its individual songs.”
The RIAA achievement is a fitting cap on the Blurryface era, which Twenty One Pilots ceremonially ended with their five-show Tour de Columbus hometown residency last June.
The band has been silent on social media since last July, leading to speculation that they’re working on new music.
