Lava/Republic RecordsBlack Veil Brides were forced to pull out of their show in Vancouver Sunday after being denied entry into Canada at the border.
“This morning we arrived at the Canadian border in order to gain access to a country that we have not only played countless shows in but also recorded an album and spent a great deal of time in over the years,” the band wrote in a Facebook post Sunday. “Instead, several members of our tour were denied entry, berated and treated with utter contempt by the agents on duty.”
The group, originally from Ohio but now based in California, adds that they’ve been touring internationally “for a decade,” but “have never experienced such a lack of civility at any border crossing or passport control in any country we have ever visited.”
While Black Veil Brides canceled their set, their co-headlining tour mates Asking Alexandria still played as scheduled. The two bands successfully played Toronto and Montreal together earlier this month.
Black Veil Brides’ tour with Asking Alexandria is expected to continue Tuesday in Spokane, Washington.
