Top Dawg Ent./Aftermath/Interscope RecordsThere’s no stopping Black Panther. Not only did the movie top the box office again in its second weekend in theaters, the film’s soundtrack is number one on the Billboard 200 chart for the second week in a row.
Black Panther: The Album moved an additional 131,000 equivalent album units, of which 40,000 were traditional album sales and the rest a combination of track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums.
The songs on Black Panther: The Album were curated by Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar, who wrote and performed on several of the disc’s tracks.
Elsewhere on the latest Billboard 200 chart, rapper Nipsey Hussle‘s debut album, Victory Lap, lands at number four in its first week of release with 53,000 equivalent album units sold.
Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlisle‘s latest effort, By the Way, I Forgive You, debuts at number five with 43,000 equivalent album units moved.
Other movie soundtracks in the top ten of the Billboard 200 include The Greatest Showman at number three and Fifty Shades Freed at number ten.
