Credit: Olivia BeeIn addition to reuniting for a giant tour this summer, three-fourths of the original Smashing Pumpkins are also working on new music. In fact, frontman Billy Corgan already has titles for eight new songs.
In an Instagram post, Corgan writes, “Back home in Chicago, snowy and unfair as she is, with a week to refine lyrics for the 8 new SP songs.”
He adds that he, James Iha and latter-day Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will make their way to Malibu next week to “sing shiny new lyrics and cut final guitar overdubs.”
As for the song titles, they are: “Alienation,” “Travels,” “Silvery Sometimes,” “Solara,” “With Sympathy,” “Marchin’ On,” “Knights of Malta” and “Seek and You Shall Destroy.”
Along with the Pumpkins tracks, Corgan says he has 16 or 18 tracks for a new solo album, the follow-up to 2017’s Ogilala.
Corgan, Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will hit the road together for their first time in nearly 20 years on the Shiny and Oh So Bright tour, which begins July 12 in Glendale, Arizona. Original bassist D’arcy Wretzky will not be taking part in the reunion.
