Image Group LA/ABCKendrick Lamar, Future and Jay Rock are a power trio in the new music video for their song “King’s Dead.”
The track is featured on the Black Panther soundtrack, which Kendrick executive-produced and curated.
The visual begins with Kendrick sitting high in a palm tree eating what appears to be corn-on-the-cob, before switching to a scene where the rapper is joined by Future and Jay in a bustling corporate office filled with white men who appear to be stockbrokers, yelling on their phones and throwing documents in the air.
British singer-songwriter James Blake, who’s featured on the song, apparently doesn’t make an appearance in the video.
Jay Rock earned his first Billboard Hot 100 hit with “King’s Dead,” when the song debuted at number 91 on the chart after it’s January 12 release.
The track also became Kendrick’s 41st Hot 100 entry, Future’s 67th, and Blake’s second and first as a leading artist.
The digital version of Black Panther The Album dropped February 9 and physical copies of the disc arrived in stores today.
Aside from Kendrick, Future, Jay Rock and James Blake, the album features Khalid, SZA, Swae Lee, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott and more.
As previously noted, Black Panther The Album is projected to debut at #1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.
Billboard initially reported that the disc could sell more than 100,000 units, but as of Thursday afternoon, the publication put that number at more than 150,000.
Should Black Panther The Album debut at number one, the disc will be the second soundtrack to top of the chart this year — the first was The Greatest Showman.
Black Panther is from Marvel Studios and Disney, parent company of ABC News.
