L-R: T.I., Trey Songz (ABC/Randy Holmes; ABC/Randy Holmes)T. I. and Trey Songz are hitting back at Raven-Symone‘s now-deleted post in which she seemingly endorsed the idea that celebrity rappers are helping to perpetuate negative black stereotypes.
Over the weekend, Symone re-posted an Instagram post by Arrested Development’s Speech that criticized the rappers who posed in JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation brunch photo during Grammy weekend. Those rappers included JAY, Swizz Beatz, T.I., Diddy and others.
“A group of so-called “successful” Black men (minus Khalid racially) who became rich and famous from perpetuating the worst Black stereotypes to the ears and eyes of the whole planet like drug dealing, pimpin, murdering other Black men and disrespecting Black women,” the post read.
After Raven re-posted the image, and seemingly agreed with Speech’s criticism, T.I. hit back at the actress with his own post Monday.
“@ravensymone Our sins ain’t no greater than yours ma’am,” T. I. wrote, captioning an Oscar Wilde quote image that read “Every saint has a past & every sinner has a future.”
The air must be thin as hell up there on that high horse you sittin on,” T.I.’s post went on.
“Somebody please let me know…WTF up wit shawty?”
Singer Trey Songz also had a few choice words for the Symone, adding his thoughts in T.I.’s comments that was captured by The Shade Room.
“It’s so sad that she’s really a clown,” he wrote. “Speech too.”
After the backlash, Symone took down her post and offered an explanation.
“Deleted my post because the comments were not something I want my underage followers looking at,” she said. “I’m not deleting because I don’t believe in what I said.”
