ABC/Heidi GutmanCamila Cabello’s latest single, “Never Be the Same,” has been climbing the charts, with Demi Lovato even saying that she’s “obsessed” with the song. Camila says she knew when she first wrote it that it was something special.
“It was my favorite for a really, really long time ’cause I just feel like…it’s just so magical to me,” she tells ABC Radio. “It was magical writing it and every time I listen back it just kind of took me to a different place.”
It’s a trait the song shared with her previous hit, “Havana.”
“I think my favorite songs are songs that take you to a different place,” she says. “I mean, I feel like ‘Havana’ takes you to a different place. Not the same place [as ‘Never Be the Same’], but, you know, it’s a mood, it’s a vibe, and I feel like ‘Never Be the Same’ is one too.”
Last month, Camila’s self-titled debut album hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart and “Havana” went to number one on the Hot 100 chart after spending seven non-consecutive weeks at number two.
