ABC RadioWhen Sam Hunt appeared Tuesday afternoon after Luke Bryan announced he’d be joining the stadium dates on his What Makes You Country Tour, there was something missing: the considerable facial hair Sam’s been sporting for the last few months.
As recently as Sunday night’s Grammys in New York City, the good looks of the “Body Like a Back Road” hitmaker were still being obscured by his beard.
So what happened?
“The past couple years when it gets cold,” Sam explained, “I like to grow a little facial hair. So I had that going on for a little while, and… I was in a hotel two nights ago and there was this cool little barbershop downstairs and he was giving those straight-razor shaves. And I’d never had one done, so I got it off.”
“Is that the hot towel deal?” Luke inquired.
“Yeah, yeah,” Sam replied. “It’s nice. It’s like a little massage.”
“I’ve never had that,” Luke answered. “I’m gonna have to grow mine out and then get the hot towel.”
Prior to Tuesday’s news conference in Nashville, Luke and Sam had been together earlier this month at Luke’s Crash My Playa getaway vacation in the Caribbean. Still, Luke confessed Sam’s looks were so different he didn’t recognize him for some time.
“He walked in and I swear to God,” Luke said, “he could’ve been in… our room back there for 20 minutes [before I realized it was him]… ’cause I just saw him at Playa with a full deal.”
Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, Morgan Wallen and DJ Rock will join Luke and Sam for thirteen What Makes You Country stadium dates this summer, starting May 31 in Toronto.
