Larry Busacca/Getty Images for MTVSorry, ‘N SYNC fans: You can say “Bye Bye Bye” to your dreams of a reunion with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl this year.
While many fans have speculated that JT might bring out his old band mates during his halftime show in Minneapolis on February 4, ‘N SYNC’s Joey Fatone insists that it’s not happening. TMZ caught up with the singer, dancer and reality star in L.A. over the weekend, and he said the very fact that he was in California proves there’s no reunion.
“I’m here right now. If I was doing something, I’d be in rehearsals right now,” he pointed out. “So obviously, there’s your proof. Nothing. And there’s nothing wrong with that! He’s doing his thing.”
The last time ‘N SYNC performed together was 2013 on the MTV VMAs, when Justin received the Video Vanguard award. They also denied they were going to reunite then, by the way.
When asked if he thinks that Justin might bring Janet Jackson on stage to make up for their 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” halftime performance, Joey immediately said no.
“He’s not that kind of person, he’s not controversial,” Joey insisted. “He is in a sense, but not in a sense to do it deliberately.”
Justin’s halftime performance will be his third on the Super Bowl stage: In addition to his 2004 debacle with Janet, he also performed in 2001 with the rest of ‘N SYNC, plus Britney Spears, Nelly, Mary J. Blige and Aerosmith.
