The Grammy-winning star has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dee Rees’ Mudbound. In addition, the song “Mighty River,” which she co-wrote with Raphael Saadiq and Taura Stinson, has been nominated for Best Original Song.
Mary was also nominated for Golden Globe awards in both those categories but didn’t win.
Mudbound is also up for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Its cinematographer, Rachel Morrison, is the first female director of photography ever nominated for an Oscar.
The 90th Annual Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, air on ABC March 4.
