ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaDolly Parton‘s music will play a central role in an upcoming movie starring Jennifer Aniston.
Dumplin’ is based on the popular young-adult novel by Julie Murphy about a teen who enters a beauty pageant, and who also happens to be a huge fan of the country-pop superstar from East Tennessee. Dumplin’ is a nickname for the character Willowdean — which also happens to be nearly the same as the real name of Parton’s oldest sister, Willadeene. Aniston plays the girl’s mother.
The musical comedy will feature classic Dolly tunes, according to E! News, as well as new music from the Country Music Hall of Famer. So far, we don’t know the film’s release date.
This weekend in Nashville, Parton picked up two trophies at the MidSouth Emmys: the Governor’s Award for her charitable work, as well at the Best Community Service honor for 2016’s Smoky Mountains Rise telethon to help victims of the East Tennessee wildfires.
