Atlantic RecordsBruno Mars‘ latest hit has led him to a new record on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart, which is based on radio airplay.
Bruno’s collabo with Cardi B, “Finesse,” tops the chart, giving Bruno his ninth Billboard Pop Songs #1. He’s now the male solo artist with the most number-ones on that chart since it started in 1992. The previous record holder was Justin Timberlake, who had eight.
The Grammy-winner is also the first male artist to score at least two number-ones on this chart from each of his first three albums. His first from his latest, 24K Magic, was “That’s What I Like.”
But Bruno still has a way to go to match the all-time record on the chart. That honor is currently held by both Katy Perry and Rihanna: Each has 11 Pop Songs number-ones. With nine to his name, Bruno is tied with Maroon 5 and Pink among all artists.
