Third Man Records/Universal MusicA four-LP vinyl version of the 2008 Supremes compilation, Supreme Rarities: Motown Lost & Found, will be released on April 6.
The 48-track collection, which was originally issued as a two-CD set, spans 1960-1969 and includes rare early recordings, outtakes, live performances and more.
Forty-five of the 48 tracks on Supreme Rarities have never been available on vinyl before. Among the songs on the compilation are some of the group’s first recordings, when they were known as The Primettes. The retrospective also features The Supremes’ versions of songs that were hits for other Motown acts, including The Miracles‘ “Mickey’s Monkey” and Stevie Wonder‘s “Uptight (Everything’s Alright).”
In addition, the collection boasts alternate versions of Supremes classics with different vocal takes, including “You Can’t Hurry Love” and “Someday We’ll Be Together.”
The vinyl package can be pre-ordered now exclusively via the Third Man Records online store.
It’s worth noting that the vinyl discs are the first Motown recordings ever pressed in the city of Detroit. The Third Man Pressing plant is located just a mile from the projects where Supremes members Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and the late Florence Ballard grew up.
