Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia RecordsChloe x Halle are primed for the release of their debut album, The Kids Are Alright, which is out today.
And fittingly, they’ve just been named Music Choice’s newest “Primed” act.
In a video interview for Music Choice, Chloe says she’s “so excited” and “so happy” for the disc to drop, especially considering it’s been in the works for three years.
“The lyrics and the song meanings really reflect today’s times and who we are inside and I hope people connect with it. I’m really excited. I just can’t wait,” she continues.
The Grown-ish stars also provide some insight on one of the songs from the album, called “Hi Lo.”
Halle says the track is about “loving your highs and loving your lows at the same time.”
“There’s also messages about manifesting what you want to happen in life and going through the trials and tribulations of being a young person, but also realizing how great that is. And that’s something that we can’t wait for the world to hear,” she adds.
The pair also talk about their special connection with Beyoncé, who signed Chloe and Halle to her management company, Parkwood Entertainment, in 2015.
Halle explains, “When we first found out that Parkwood wanted to talk to us and Beyoncé wanted to sign us, we, of course, were ecstatic ’cause as young black girls, we have always looked up to Beyoncé…everything that she does is just beautiful.”
“We were so inspired by how a woman like her could be so strong and powerful and create such great art at the same time. One day we aspire to do the same,” she adds.
“Having her pat us on the back and kind of be a mentor to us was something that was really astonishing.”
