The “Formation” singer has teamed up with Gucci, Chime for Change and UNICEF in an effort to bring clean, safe water to the East African nation.
According to Chime for Change’s announcement about the partnership via Twitter Thursday, 120,000 women, girls and families will “have improved water, sanitation & hygiene thanks to Gucci’s $1 million commitment” to the cause.
Chime for Change was founded by Gucci, Bey and actress Salma Hayek Pinault in 2013 to help promote gender equality and give women and girls around a platform to speak out about important issues.
Beyoncé’s BEYGOOD4BURUNDI charity campaign has been in partnership with UNICEF since last year in order to provide clean water to women and children in Burundi, which is known as the “Heart of Africa.”
It’s also one of the most densely populated countries on the continent.
The water crisis in Burundi is especially detrimental for the country’s children, who are more vulnerable to malnutrition and water-borne diseases.
Beyoncé continues to raise money through BEYGOOD4BURUNDI in order to provide items like water tanks and water distribution kits, hand pumps for well water, and safe drinking water kits.
