Brad Barket/Getty ImagesAzealia Banks has a new announcement to make: Rihanna‘s smash hit album Anti was inspired by her.
In a recent response to a fan on Twitter, captured by Rhymes with Snitch, the “Big Big Beat” rapper explains, “rihanna named her album anti after having a studio session with me and me tell her she needed to make and [sic] anti-pop record.”
What’s interesting about this statement is that Azealia was rumored to be appear on RiRi’s Anti disc before it dropped in 2016.
Her feature never appeared, but Azealia shared the alleged demo of the track, called “La Dominadora,” online that year.
Azealia also says in the same message that the “oshun orisha influence” from Beyoncé‘s album Lemonade was also her doing.
“I made it okay for these pop stars to be political in this recent era,” Azealia continues.
“I paid the price to initiate all of these conversations your faves lollipoped [sic] off of. Don’t try me.”
True or not, Banks’ revelation comes amid another bold statement she made on Instagram Monday. In a detailed note on the social media platform, she labels herself as “the most influential female rapper post nicki Minaj.”
“I may not be the most popular.. but definitely the most influential. My words are powerful, when I speak the people ALWAYS react,” she writes.
