According to Billboard, only five other songs in history have managed to spend their first eight weeks or more at #1.
They include Mariah Carey‘s 1995 smash “Fantasy;” Adele‘s “Hello;” Puff Daddy‘s 1997 classic “I’ll Be Missing You;” Elton John‘s “Candle in the Wind 1997;” and “One Sweet Day” by Mimi and Boyz II Men, which holds the record for most weeks spent at #1, with 16.
As previously reported, in late January, Drake surpassed JAY-Z by having the most tracks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 among rappers, with a total of 22 hits, thanks to “God’s Plan” and his other song from Scary Hours, “Diplomatic Immunity.”
Those two songs became his 21st and 22nd top 10s when “God’s Plan” debuted at number one and “Diplomatic Immunity” launched at number seven.
This achievement made the rapper one of only two acts to debut two songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100 simultaneously — the other is Ed Sheeran.
Drizzy also stars in Migos‘ Soul Train-inspired video for their single, “Walk It Talk It.”
