ABC/Randy HolmesTrey Songz was arrested early Monday morning on a domestic violence charge, the LAPD confirms to ABC News.
Born Tremaine Neverson, the singer has been accused of hitting a woman named Andrea Buera in the face during NBA All-Star Weekend on February 18.
As previously reported, Buera alleged during a press conference last Tuesday that Neverson yelled at her, choked her, punched her and ultimately knocked her to the ground at an after-party in Los Angeles.
“While I was on the ground, he continued punching me and he did not stop until his security guard pulled him off of me,” she added.
Buera also claimed that while Trey assaulted her, “people stood and watched as some scurried away,” and that he also threw both of her phones over a cliff as she was attempting to call an Uber.
Following the alleged attack, Buera stated that she had to go to the hospital.
“He hit me so hard that I had a concussion and was throwing up from the migraines. By the next day I had bruises on my face, body and neck that only continued to get darker,” she claimed.
In light of his arrest, Trey reached out to fans via Twitter to make a statement.
He wrote, “For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me. I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.”
In another tweet Neverson added, “I won’t be speaking too much more on this but would like to thank you for all the prayers and support.”
