Credit: Tim CadienteA Perfect Circle will hit the road in support of their forthcoming new album Eat the Elephant starting April 14 in Tucson, Arizona, but guitarist James Iha won’t be joining them.
According to a statement from APC’s rep, Iha will miss all of the band’s currently scheduled live dates, which run through July 1, due to his commitments to the Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour.
“As you most likely have heard, James Iha’s original band, the Smashing Pumpkins, have announced a summer tour that James will be taking part in,” the statement reads. “Because James will be busy gearing up for that tour, he won’t be able to join us for our upcoming tour dates.”
Stepping in for Iha on A Perfect Circle’s tour will be Failure and Autolux guitarist Greg Edwards, who the band describes as a “longtime friend” and “one of our favorite guitar players.”
“We want to reiterate that this is a temporary situation and James remains a part of A Perfect Circle,” the statement concludes.
You’ll still be able to hear Iha on APC’s new album Eat the Elephant, which will be released April 20.
Meanwhile, the Smashing Pumpkins Shiny and Oh So Bright tour kicks off July 12 in Glendale, Arizona.
