ABC/Paula LoboDemi Lovato is marking another year sober.
“Just officially turned 6 years sober,” the singer tweeted Thursday. “So grateful for another year of joy, health and happiness. It IS possible.”
The tweet received an outpouring of support and encouragement from fans, with many writing how “proud” they are of the star.
Demi has long been open about her past struggles with substance abuse. She co-owns the treatment center CAST Centers and has brought the organization on the road with her for her current Tell Me You Love Me tour.
In a cover story with Billboard last week, Demi revealed how some of her experiences as a celebrity can pose challenges to her sobriety.
In particular, she recalled that at the 2016 Met Gala, she felt so uncomfortable that she wanted to drink. Instead, she left the event and headed to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting…still wearing the millions of dollars worth of diamonds from the evening.
