Christopher Polk/NBC/NBC via Getty ImagesIt’s a match made in girl squad heaven: Camila Cabello is reportedly in “final talks” to open for pal Taylor Swift on tour.
A source tells UsWeekly, “It’s 99 percent a done deal.”
Camila’s Never Be the Same solo tour is scheduled to wrap up its North American dates May 4. Taylor’s Reputation world tour is set to kick off May 8, so it appears Camila will be free.
Now, Camila does have some solo dates scheduled in the U.K. in early June, but so does Taylor — and none of the dates coincide, as it happens. So it’s possible that Camila could open for Taylor in the U.K. and still do her solo shows on her off days. Or Camila could simply open for Taylor during another part of the Reputation tour, which runs through November.
Either way, it’s a perfect bill. Camila and Taylor are longtime friends, with Camila frequently gushing about the pop superstar.
“The reason we became friends was purely because we think the same way about a lot of things,” she told Seventeen last year. “We’re both really sensitive and emotional when it comes to love.”
Camila’s former group, Fifth Harmony, was previously a special guest on Taylor’s 1989 tour where Shawn Mendes was the opening act. In fact, Camila and Shawn wrote their duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer” backstage at the Taylor concert.
