ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaChance The Rapper is standing with veteran comedian Mo’Nique when it comes to her Netflix boycott; as previously reported, she’s accused the streaming service of low-balling her for a comedy special.
In a series of tweets on Sunday, Chance voiced his support and explained why he’s all for the Oscar-winning actress’ decision to boycott Netflix.
“I’m with Mo’Nique,” he tweeted. “Anybody remember when Mo’Nique filmed a special in a women’s correctional facility?”
Chance is referring to Mo’Nique’s 2007 I Could’ve Been Your Cellmate comedy special in which she famously performed for inmates at The Ohio Reformatory for Women.
The Chi-town rapper continued, “I remember. Black women, you deserve better.”
In addition, Mo’Nique claims she’s been blackballed by industry heavyweights like Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels, which led her family to suffer financially.
“For eight years — for eight years — my family has suffered,” Mo’Nique said to The View co-hosts last week.
“And my career has suffered, because what I would not allow those entities to do was bully me. And because I didn’t allow the bullying to happen, this is now what I sit in.”
