Image Group LA/ABCWith 12 Grammy Awards and a number one Black Panther soundtrack album, just about everyone knows who Kendrick Lamar is — except the contestants on last night’s Jeopardy, that is.
Host Alex Trebeck provided five clues about the 30-year-old superstar, but all three players were dumbfounded.
When one contestant, Rob, selected Recent R&B and Hip-Hop Hits for $2,000, Trebek offered the names of four of Lamar’s songs, and his latest solo album. He said, “Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA.’ He had ‘LOYALTY.’ He was ‘HUMBLE.’ and in ‘LOVE.’—DAMN.”
Ron, as well as his opponents Catherine and Alan, were all silent, forcing Trebek to give the answer: “That would be Kendrick Lamar.”
The Compton rapper is now touring Europe with a performance tonight in Amsterdam.
