The note goes on to address the recording artist’s various accomplishments since the release of her critically acclaimed third album, A Seat at the Table, in 2016: her performance at the White House for former President Barack Obama, her performance art shows at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and her art installation at London’s Tate modern museum.
“Solange will be recognized and honored at the annual Harvard Foundation award ceremony on March 3rd during the Cultural Rhythm Festival in the Memorial Hall’s Sanders Theatre,” the message continues.
Previous Harvard Foundation award winners include Viola Davis, Queen Latifah, Halle Berry, LL Cool J, Jackie Chan, Denzel Washington, Salma Hayek, and Eva Longoria.
Harvard University’s Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations was founded in 1981 by the President and Deans of the Ivy League institution to highlight the contributions of national and international figures whose work and actions helped to improve the quality of lives around the world.
In addition, the foundation strives to help people learn more about different cultures through scholarly programs and cultural celebrations.
