Daniel Boczarski/Getty ImagesScott Stapp is being sued by his Art of Anarchy band mates Jon and Vince Votta, according to documents obtained by SILive.com.
The $1.2 million lawsuit alleges that Stapp refused to take part in certain promotional events, including photo and video shoots, as required by his contract with the Vottas’ company, Vice Inc. It also accuses the ex-Creed frontman of focusing solely on his own solo career and failing to promote Art of Anarchy on his social media.
Stapp’s failure to take part in these promotional efforts, the complaint states, led to canceled concert dates and the termination of Art of Anarchy’s recording contract.
“If Stapp had dedicated himself to Art of Anarchy with the same fervor that he dedicated to his solo career, Art of Anarchy would have had a successful concert tour and its record contract would not have been terminated,” the suit reads.
Stapp joined Art of Anarchy, which also includes ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Disturbed bassist John Moyer, in 2016, and they released an album called The Madness in 2017. The band released their self-titled debut album, featuring Scott Weiland on lead vocals, in 2015.
Neither representatives for Stapp or Vice Inc. responded to requests for comment from SILive.com.
