Rob Kim/FilmMagicThe family of late 3 Doors Down guitarist Matt Roberts, who died of a drug overdose in 2016, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alabama doctor Richard Snellgrove, according to AL.com.
The suit alleges that Snellgrove caused Roberts’ addiction by prescribing him high levels of drugs such as Fentanyl and Valium.
The complaint also names a local Rite Aid, which filled a number of Snellgrove’s prescriptions days before his death.
Snellgrove has already been indicted on six counts of illegal drug distribution related to Roberts’ death. A trial for that case is scheduled to begin in May.
Roberts, who was 38 when he died, was a founding member of 3 Doors Down. He left the group in 2012 to focus on health issues.
