Interscope RecordsFew veteran acts came away with awards on Sunday at the 60th annual Grammys, but one of the event’s winners is among the most celebrated rock bands of all time, The Rolling Stones. The legendary British group took home the Best Traditional Blues Album trophy for their most recent studio effort, Blue & Lonesome, a collection of vintage blues covers.
The award was presented during the Grammy pre-show event held during the afternoon at The Theater at Madison Square Garden prior to the televised ceremony. The honor marked only the third time that The Rolling Stones have ever won a Grammy. The band previously took home two awards in 1995 — the Best Rock Album and Best Music Video, Short Form prizes, respectively, for Voodoo Lounge and “Love Is Strong.”
Stones guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood posted comments about the band’s Grammy win on their respective Twitter feeds.
In true “Keef” fashion, Richards declared, “Fantastic! It’s about f****** time!” while Wood was a bit more courteous, writing, “Wow! Thank you!”
