ABC/Paula LoboTwo women have come forward to accuse Nelly, born Cornell Haynes Jr., of sexual assault. The news comes a month after prosecutors in Washington State dropped a case against the rapper, in which he was accused of rape by a woman named Monique Greene.
Spin magazine reports that both women’s claims are detailed in Greene’s lawsuit in an amended complaint filed Monday by Green’s attorney, Karen Koehler. The first new accuser, addressed as “Jane Doe 1” in the lawsuit, alleges that he “stuck his hand up her dress at a concert after party in June 2016.”
The second new accuser, “Jane Doe 2,” claims that Nelly pleasured himself in front of her in a dressing room after a show in December 2017, and “forcibly grabbed her head in an attempt to demand oral sex.”
Jane Doe 1 is a married mother and U.S. military member; Jane Doe 2 is a mother of three in a long-term relationship. The full amended complaint is available to read on Spin‘s website.
Nelly has now counter-sued Greene, claiming she came on to him and then made up the rape allegation to get him arrested. In the filing, he claims they had consensual sex, but then she became upset, “aggressive and disruptive.” Nelly is suing because he claims Greene’s claim damaged his reputation and cost him money
Nelly is filing to strike Greene’s newly amended claim that adds the allegations of Jane Does 1 and 2. He also wants the defamation suit she filed against him dismissed.
Nelly’s attorney Scott Rosenblum told ABC News in a statement, “Nelly is sensitive to women that have been victimized and marginalized. This is not the case here. He will not stand silent…His accuser’s lawsuit, as predicted, is nothing more than an attempted money grab. It will not happen.”
“Nelly trusts the facts. He trusts the judicial system. And more importantly, he trusts that an objective finder of facts will conclude that his accuser’s story is ever evolving and devoid of credibility,” continues the statement, which calls the addition of Jane Doe 1 and 2 to the complaint “completely fabricated.”
“Nelly welcomes the opportunity to litigate this case in court,” finishes the statement. “He is not looking for any monetary gain. He does not expect any monetary gain. He expects an apology and recognition that he did no wrong.”
