The Recording AcademyThe 60th annual Grammy Awards will be held tonight, January 28 in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with artists from the genres of R&B, rap and hip-hop dominating the list of nominees.
JAY-Z, who People magazine reported on Friday will not appear to perform at the big event, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars are among the leading nominees.
JAY leads overall with eight nominations, including Album of the Year for 4:44 and Record of the Year for “The Story of O.J.”
Kendrick is next with seven nods: his album DAMN. is also up for Album of the Year.
Bruno received six nods, including “24K Magic” for Record of the Year.
There’s also a sizable amount of first-time Grammy nominees this year, including Cardi B, Khalid, SZA, who all released their debut albums in 2017.
Cardi B’s breakout hit, “Bodak Yellow” is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance and Khalid received five nominations, including one for Best R&B Song.
SZA is also up for a Best New Artist award, along with four other trophies.
Logic and Childish Gambino are also first-time nominated artists: Logic scored a Song of the Year and Best Music Video nomination for his track, “1-800-273-8255.”
Other nominated artists across the R&B, Rap and Gospel fields include Kehlani, Lil Uzi Vert, Ledisi, The Weeknd, Migos, Tyler, The Creator and Tina Campbell.
Performers on the show include Rihanna, Cardi, Bruno, Khalid, Kendrick, Childish Gambino, SZA, Logic, DJ Khaled and many more.
The Grammys air live at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Several awards will be announced during a pre-show ceremony, which will stream via Grammy.com starting at 3 p.m. ET.
