Third Man/ColumbiaAlong with the previously released tracks “Connected by Love,” “Corporation” and “Respect Commander,” Jack White‘s upcoming album, Boarding House Reach, features a song titled “Over and Over and Over.” As it turns out, White has been trying to record “Over and Over and Over,” well, over and over and over again.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, White reveals he originally wrote “Over and Over and Over” 13 years ago, and he tried to record it with The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. He even brought it up again during his scrapped collaboration with rapper JAY-Z.
“I was just gonna hand it off to my grandchildren,” White says of the track. “It was sort of my white whale. I chased it and chased it, and finally, all of a sudden, it worked.”
Even if it features a 13-year-old song, White feels Boarding House Reach sounds “incredibly modern.”
“I wanted to take punk, hip-hop and rock & roll, and funnel it all into a 2018 time capsule,” he says.
Boarding House Reach will be released March 23.
