Credit: Randee St. NicholasREO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin is on the mend after undergoing an operation to treat an unspecified medical issue that forced the band to postpone all of its shows in January and February. The singer has posted a Facebook message giving an update on his health and thanking his fans for their positive messages.
“Hi friends, I am overwhelmed, and so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and support which so many of you showered upon me,” Cronin writes. “All of your positive energy and prayers must have worked, as my surgery went flawlessly, and I am home from the hospital, healing up and resting comfortably.”
Cronin also reports that his wife, Lisa, has been taking “amazing care” of him since he returned home from the hospital and that he’s “feeling a little bit stronger every day.”
He adds, “This little health scare has been a wakeup call for me, and has caused me to appreciate the little things, and count my many blessings…one of them being that fact the REO Speedwagon has the coolest and most loyal fans in rock ‘n’ roll. Thanks to each and every one of you.”
Accompanying the message, Kevin posted a photo of himself enjoying breakfast in bed prepared by his “nurse,” Lisa.
REO Speedwagon has rescheduled all but two of the postponed shows, with most of those dates now slated to take place in the fall. The band also has announced a few new concerts. REO’s 2018 tour itinerary includes a joint spring trek with Styx and ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder that’s mapped out from a March 13 concert in Duluth, Minnesota, through an April 15 show in Charleston, South Carolina.
