ABC/Randy HolmesPower executive producer and rapper 50 Cent is now nearly $8 million more richer, thanks to a bitcoin deal he made in 2014 that he says he simply “forgot” about.
Newsweek reports that the “In Da Club” star wrote in a now-deleted Instagram comment, “I’m a keep it real I forgot I did that s**t. Lol.”
He continued, “Not bad for a kid from South Side. I’m so proud of me.”
The fortunate accident happened because Fiddy accepted the cryptocurrency for his 2014 album Animal.
That pioneering move earned him 700 bitcoins, which at the time were worth about $400,000.
But as of Thursday evening, one bitcoin is now worth over $11,000 US dollars, bringing in huge payday for the rapper and entrepreneur.
However, he might want to cash that in now, since investment experts warn that cryptocurrency is a bubble that might soon burst, and its worth has been falling since Christmas.
