Denise TruscelloBritney Spears’ Las Vegas residency at the Axis at Planet Hollywood wrapped up on New Year’s Eve. She’s planning to take the show on the road later this summer, but as Billboard notes, she’s leaving Sin City with a much bigger bank account than when she arrived.
According to Billboard, Britney: Piece of Me played 248 shows over four years, starting December 27, 2013. Citing numbers from Caesars Entertainment, which produced the show, the production grossed just under $137,700,000, and sold a little more than 900,000 tickets.
Over the four years, Britney changed the show here and there; for example, in 2016, she added songs from her then newly-released album Glory to the set.
Britney’s show was the first in the Axis theater, and proved that there was a real market in Las Vegas for residencies by younger performers. Following Britney’s success, the Axis is now the host of residencies and mini-residencies by The Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Lionel Richie, and Pitbull.
