PLEA DEAL FOR DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF
The deputy chief of the Dayville Volunteer Fire Department will serve no prison time, after agreeing to a plea deal involving two separate cases. Todd Wakefield was sentenced Tuesday in Danielson Superior Court to an 18-month suspended sentence, and 18 months probation. Assistant State’s Attorney Marissa Goldberg says Wakefield threatened to dig a hole with a backhoe, and dump the victim’s body into it. Wakefield was then charged in June with side-swiping a vehicle on the side of the road, as he was driving a fire truck to a call. State police say he failed to stop, and neglected to notify authorities.
