CASINO SLOTS DOWN
The slot machine revenues for both area casinos dropped by one percent last month. Foxwoods Resort Casino kept $38.1 million in wagers after paying out prizes. Mohegan Sun kept $50.6 million. Both figures are down from those reported in May of 2016.
MAN ASSAULTS COP
A Norwich man was arrested yesterday for a shoplifting incident at Clinton Crossings and allegedly injuring an officer who was trying to take him into custody. Police say that Chad Dandria was involved in the theft on Wednesday and fled when approached by officers. A second suspect, Joseph Salimeno, was taken into custody. Dandria was located later and cops say resisted arrest, striking the officer in the head and eluding capture. He was found Thursday and faces charges of larceny and assault.
PD IN COURT
Public Defender Michael Alvey was in New London Superior Court yesterday, but was appearing to speak as the victim of a crime. Alvey, who works in the New Haven court system, was critically injured in Chester in 2015,struck by a vehicle while bicycling in a fundraising event. The driver, Kenneth Tanner of New Hampshire initially fled the scene and was later arrested . While his case was pending, he was involved in another incident. Tanner agreed to a plea deal in the cases. He was in court for sentencing.
